What species of wood do you stock?

Our Lumber

Douglas fir was the main species of lumber used in older buildings in the PNW so it is the main species that we have in stock. We also have a consistent supply of western red cedar and yellow cedar.<br /> Hardwoods such as oak and maple are less frequent but we we occasionally have supply, mainly in the form of flooring and trim.

Where do you get your supply?

Supply Chains

We receive most of our reclaimed lumber from our sister company Unbuilders. We also source material from other deconstruction companies and demolition companies doing selective salvage.<br /> Our supply mainly comes from the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island, although we also receive material from other parts of BC and Western Canada.

It is one of the most utilized and versatile woods in the world, from joists to flooring to windows and doors. It has incredible strength and a beautiful grain pattern.

Our material can be surfaced and finished to fit many different aesthetics. From rough sawn lumber for rustic mountain cabins to whitewashed flooring for modern designs, we’ve got materials that are suitable in many different designs.

Live edge material is not something we typically carry since they are not found in deconstructed buildings very often. We occasionally have live edge material if it isa salvaged from naturally fallen trees.

We have dimensions from 1/2”-15” thickness and 2”-21” widths. Douglas Fir is that main species that makes up our larger dimension material.

Yes, we not only custom cut lumber and timber but can also surface the material in a few different ways. Planing, sanding, wire-wheeling, and torching are a few of the options that we offer.

Is your lumber graded for construction?

Is your lumber graded for construction?

Reclaimed lumber and timber does not carry a grading designation. However, we work with lumber graders and engineers that can deem reclaimed lumber and timber suitable for load bearing applications.

Yes, we will purchase reclaimed lumber if it is of a decent quantity and a quantity large enough to justify a purchase.

For the most part we avoid pressure treated lumber because of the harmful chemicals it can contain, especially in older material.
